Fair Play
The world is not a level playing field- aiming to win, leads to loss of connection. Everything ends. When the powerful decide to put their efforts into keeping the field level- We can keep playing, and fun wins- not power.
Fair Play is part of a series.
This means that I created 6 of the original sculpture, and one outdoor version. Currently, no originals are available. If desired, I can create a BRONZE version in conversation with the purchaser. Contact me to arrange this. |

The Leafy seadragon is a bronze sculpture that floats on a block of red gum reminiscing of coral- above a large block of cedar pine.
The whole sculpture is about 150 cm high.
Although this gives the feel of a seascape- due to the colours and finishing of the bronze, the sculpture is best of inside. (the colours may fade, and the bronze will need maintenance outside. )
This Seadragon will be created as a small series of 3 max, and each one will be unique- with its own block or frame (can be mounted on wall.)
If you are interested in owning your own Seadragon- contact me and we can discuss the possibilities.

SIR MANDRILL
Sir Mandrill is a reflection on historic presentation of famous and important figures who were placed on a pedestal, who were so distant of the ‘normal people’ - and on wildlife that is so far distant from us that we can only see them in an animal museum (or zoo) or on expensive trips to exotic countries- reserved for the rich.
Sir Mandrill is comfortable staying outside in your garden.

Some days you just feel happy ,walking around- you develop a swagger, and everyone sees you are feeling good! 'Great day' is a bird that is happy. Probably because I started making him during covid isolation, but I only really got going when restrictions were lifted and everything felt light again. The original was made in soft wax, then cast in bronze and colourful patinas.
Thanks to Mal Wood Foundry, and THUD design.(Base) Photography; Rob Anderson Photography |

Happy Dance
Skyline is a group of three giraffes. Giraffes are amazing creatures that- despite their body shape _ long legs, long necks) actually have the same bone structure as most vertebreas just longer.
With these giraffes I was looking for the limits in the makeup of these parts, while at the same time finding the limits of the material I was working in. Skyline as a group is a limited edition of 3/5. The giraffes are also available loose, as single ones. Bronze casting; Mal Wood Foundry
Base; THUD Photography; Rob Anderson photography. |

LOST
(25x 30x 50 cm)
Lost is feeling at the end of endurance but not of life. Horse and rider are still ready to go on, and roam the world - waiting for better times. This is a story of hope against the odds.
It is a sensitive description of how we all have felt at some stage during the last years - Lost, but not gone. Just a bit battered- but still ok.

Clydie Chillin'
Little Clydie enjoying the sun, or his beautiful block of wood he prefers to lie down on. He is such a friendly fellow.

Babayagan (sold)
Babayaga is a mythical woman approving in Russian Folklore.
Babayaga’s hut- based on a Russian myth of the wise woman or witch. She is ugly, described as evil- and helpful to those in need. She eats children (instead of birthing them) - scares wanderers, and has extensive knowledge which helps the common people. She is a dichotomy, and is seen as one of the (first) wise women, a woman with knowledge, independent of man- and as such a archaical feministic character. Babayaga lives in the forest- in a house that wanders around on chicken legs. This unpredictable pattern of being is part of the mystery. Babayagan, The hut of Babayaga, is created of ceramics and metal. It is happy to wander in your garden, or be inside. I expect this version to stay put. But, who knows? size; approx 63 cm high. base plate; 40 x 50 cm. |
Drinking Giraffe (sold)
With my Giraffes I was looking for the limits in the material, both wax and bronze. I loved finding how thin I could go in neck and legs, as a personal challenge. It turned out to be pretty challenging to the foundry as well- And, believe me- the foundry did not thank me for that!
The drinking giraffe is mounted on a block of chocolate elm- a rare wood- and has his drinking hole in the rough bark area of the wood. Base and sculpture go extremely well together. Drinking Giraffe can be part of a group, or can be a sculpture on its own. Drinking Giraffe is a prize winner in 3 shows. 20x25x20cm. Drinking and standing Giraffe
