From very early on I have been an artist and maker of things. It was only logical that after highschool I was going to Art school - a broad skill based study where I learned to work with metal, wood, clay, textiles, and of course drawing, printing and painting. I learned to transfer these skills and be a teacher.
I taught for 12 years in the Netherlands at primary and secondary schools, while having my own studio, three children and renovating two houses (together with the best man in the world). My making had to be low key due to life !
Moving to Australia was an obvious step, we both craved more space, and we were lucky enough to find our house in the bush, which has enough space for two studios. I have been concentrating on clay, cement and bronzes the past years, while my husband is a massive support in the technical department, making bases, welding and figuring out what went wrong.
My inspiration has been always, and is still, animals. Their movement, their spirit, their energy. My aim is to depict what I can see in their being- and bring out to show and share, while seeking the limitations of form, and material.
